Alas good to go for NLEX

KEVIN Alas is taking his latest comeback with a lot of caution.

It's his third episode with an ACL injury, after all.

Although already given a go signal to play in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, the NLEX guard is just making sure he's fully recovered before finally plunging back into action.

"Gusto lang namin na mag-full year yung surgery ko (Dec. 4), parang protocol lang naman. Pero good to go na rin naman," said Alas, who was in street clothes during the Road Warriors' first game of the conference, a 114-87 loss at the hands of the Northport Batang Pier.

By that estimate, the son of champion coach expects to be back in action in the team's third game against Terrafirma by next week.

The 33-year-old Alas went down with the injury just three games in last year's Commissioner's Cup, shutting him down for good for the rest of the season.

While having dealt with the same dilemma before, Alas admitted he doesn't know what to expect in his comeback game.

"To be honest, sa practice OK na, e. Siguro sa game ko malalaman," he said, grateful for the patience NLEX management and the entire team had in him as he tries to work his way back full recovery.

"Excited ako pero I don't know what to expect sa game. Third time ko na ito, so I honestly don't know. But still grateful na makakabalik na rin ako." (RG)
